Here is an exceptional Ametrine gemstone! The stone weighs over 40 carats! That is a large stone and of excellent quality! Ametrine is a naturally occurring variety of Quartz. The purple and yellow bi-color is formed by a unique twin law (Brazil Law Twinning). This is when two separate color crystals are intergrown to create an alternating radiation pattern. The purple (Amethyst) and yellow (Citrine) triangles can be viewed down the c axis when the crystal is cut. The two colors are oriented based upon their position inside the crystal to create the famous bicolor gemstones. This stone has a beautiful bi-color split, and the step emerald shape frames the color split perfectly. The clarity is excellent, and the stone has a lovely light return. The colors are deep and saturated, practically as good as this material comes. This stone is 100% natural and is not treated in any way. This stone is excellent quality for a collection, and difficult to replace! Enjoy!
