This is a beautiful Rubellite gem! Rubellite is commonly used in reference to red to pink color Tourmalines. However, true rubellite is quite rare and has to be very similar to the color of good Ruby. This stone is a true red Rubellite. This stone was mined for the renowned Jonas mine, in Brazil. Which is famous for its saturated red Tourmaline crystals. Some of the finest Tourmaline crystals ever found are from the Jonas mine. This stone has a rich red color that glows. This demonstrates purple highlights when backlit. The stone is nearly 5 carats, which is an excellent and impressive size for true Rubellite.
