Here is a spectacular Opal gem! The carving on this stone is excellent. The stone has a beautiful smooth round circumference on the crown, girdle and pavilion. The stone has been fantasy cut to create sharp v-groves inline to the center feature, which is a perfectly polished bubble that works like a lens. The grooves are frosted and slightly reflect off of the bubble and gives the appearance that the grooves are holding the bubble in place. The stone is simply designed and perfectly executed. Mexican Fire Opal has been around for decades and is still highly sought after on today’s market. This stone came from material that was mined in the 1980’s and was cut in the same time period, needless to say, it’s stable. This stone is such a crystal clear colorless that looks unreal. The clarity is superb with no fractures or major bubbles. It has that iconic misty appearance common in Opal. This gem was created by Allyce Kosnar of Kosnar Gem Co., during January 2019. Enjoy!
