Here is an interesting Sapphire gemstone! The stone is a bright blue color that Sri Lanka is famous for. The stone is completely natural and unheated. What’s interesting about this stone are the inclusions. There is a cloud veil of silk concentrated on one side of the stone and easily visible through the crown. These silk inclusions are the same that cause cat’s eye effects in these Sapphires. This stone is both a faceted stone and a cat’s eye, which is unique because the chatoyant effect is typically seen in cabochons. There are some other inclusions as well, but the cat’s eye effect right across the crown is the dominant feature. The gem is nearly 1.5 carats which is a nice size, and will fit nicely into a piece of jewelry. Enjoy!
