Milarite is an extremely rare Beryllium Silicate and there are only 2 localities for facet grade material, Brazil and Namibia. The Namibian material was found and faceted first, then some years later the Brazilian material was. This stone is from the Erongo region of Namibia. The color is a bright yellow that is quite attractive especially for a rare gem. The clarity of this stone is excellent for Milarite which is typically opaque. These stones are difficult to find and rarely good quality. This stone is actually durable enough for jewelry being a hardness of 6, similar to Garnet. This is the only Milarite we have ever had and there is no knowing when we will see another. Enjoy!
