Ametrine is a naturally occurring purple and yellow bi-color variety of Quartz that is formed by a unique twin law ("Brazil Law Twinning") where two separate individually colored crystals are intergrown to form an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple (Amethyst) and yellow (Citrine) triangles when viewed down the c axis. The two colors are oriented based upon their position inside the crystal to create the famous bicolor gemstones. This set has a nice pattern of light purple and yellow mix in the center of the stones. The clarity is great and the stones have exceptional light return. These stones have been concave cut to create a brilliant radiant light return. Concave cutting is achieved with the use of cylindrical burs instead of traditional flat faceting. The table is still flat faceted to allow for optimal light return. These stones are 100% natural and is not treated in anyway. These will make a bright and radiant pair of earrings! Enjoy!
