Fordite is one of the most unique materials on the planet and absolutely irreplaceable now. It is a synthetic material for cabbing, but is actually a multi layered enamel paint byproduct from automotive manufacturing. The assembly lines used to have giant painting machines that would run through many colors in succession, the layers would build up and dry after many cars had been painted. This enamel paint is no longer used on modern cars, so this byproduct is no long being manufactured. This piece has about 10 different unique colors, including several metallics. The pieces are cut similar to Mokume Gane and the layers are all exposed in a unique iris pattern. This is a spectacular piece of Americana and a must have for any vintage car lover. This stone was cabbed by Brett Kosnar of Kosnar Gem Co. Enjoy!
