These beautiful yellow Zircons from Sri Lanka are hard to find and stunning! They are found as a brownish orange color but then heated to this much more desirable yellow color. There is fantastic glitter in this stone and superb light return. There is a slight overtone of green to this gem which is certainly attractive and unique. This gem is just begging to be set into jewelry, especially a pendant. You can see the classic birefringence (facet doubling) that Zircon displays in the photos. Zircon has a bad rap because it is often confused by many as cubic zirconia. However, Zircon is a natural mineral and chemically is zirconium orthosilicate. Zircons have notoriously been passed off as Diamonds because of their brilliance and high refractive index. I just love this gem for it’s attractive color and excellent brilliance.
