Friedelite is a rare manganese silicate that is only found in a few localities worldwide in gem quality material. The species was named after Charles Friedel, a professor of chemistry at the Sorbonne in France. It's notably hard to find good pieces of Friedelite in gem grade material, as most crystals are rather small, and the larger material is often very dark and opaque. The Franklin Mining District in New Jersey has produced some of the top examples of Friedelite in terms of gem material, and while it's never completely transparent, it is well-known among rare stone collectors for its excellent color and larger-than-average sized gems. This is a fantastic Friedelite gem! It weighs over 1 carat which is excellent for any rare gem species. It has no cracks and has a homogeneous translucent gem quality! Don’t miss out on this fantastic rarity! Enjoy!
