Here is an enchanting Ametrine gem! The stone has a gorgeous natural bicolor of purple and yellow. The orientation of color is excellent, splitting the purple and yellow bicolor to give the stone a striking appearance. The stone has been fantasy cut to create this brilliant radiant pattern. This stone is called, “The Knights Shield” because of its iconic shield shape. Ametrine is a naturally occurring purple and yellow bi-color variety of Quartz that is formed by a unique twin law ("Brazil Law Twinning") where two separate individually colored crystals are intergrown to form an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple (Amethyst) and yellow (Citrine) triangles when viewed down the c axis. The two colors are oriented based upon their position inside the crystal to create the famous bicolor gemstones. This is an incredible gemstone and absolutely stunning in person. This stone was created by Allyce Kosnar of Kosnar Gem Co, during June 2019. Enjoy!
*This fantasy cutting technique is a special process developed by the master jeweler and lapidary, Dalan Hargrave. He taught us to do this process and we are grateful to him everyday for the gift of knowledge.*
