Here is a gorgeous Zircon! This gem has a beautiful peach color with soft pink highlights. The clarity of the stone is excellent and flashes beautifully in the hand. The gem is a calibrated emerald shape and has been fantasy carved in the pavilion to create a radiant pattern. You can see the classic birefringence (facet doubling) that Zircon displays in the photos. In particular, this stone was oriented with the strong birefringence through the table and causes the fantasy cuts to shift and look unreal! Zircon has a bad rap because it is often confused by many as cubic zirconia. However, Zircon is a natural mineral and chemically is zirconium orthosilicate.
