Here is a lovely Amethyst gem! It has a two-toned color zoning that is split down the middle of the stone. A mixture of rich purple and light Lavender colors. The Arizona Four Peaks Amethyst mine is remote and located in the most rugged parts of the Matatzal Mountains. The miners live at the site for 1-2 weeks and have to hike 9 miles roundtrip to work. There is no running water at the mine, nor are motorized vehicles permitted. Only hand tools can be used for a slow, tedious extraction of the Amethyst. Several times a year, the Amethyst rough is removed from the mine and transported by helicopter off the mountain. The Four Peaks material is a lovely purple color, but has a unique color flash that is beautiful. It is sometimes difficult to acquire this material because most of it is shipped overseas for cutting and distributed commercially, not to mention the limited production. It is some of the best gem Amethyst on the planet and is a classic US gemstone. Brett Kosnar of Kosnar Gem Co. created this gemstone during June 2022. Enjoy!
