Here is an enchanting Ametrine gem! The stone has a bi-color split, cut in a fantastic pear shape. The stone has been fantasy cut to create this lovely star pattern. The grooves of the cut are frosted to give the stone an intricate contrast. Ametrine is a naturally occurring purple and yellow bi-color variety of Quartz. It is formed by a unique twin law ("Brazil Law Twinning") where two separate individually colored crystals are intergrown to create an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple (Amethyst) and yellow (Citrine) triangles when viewed down the c axis. The two colors are oriented based upon their position inside the crystal to create the famous bicolor gemstones. This gem will make an excellent pendant and be one of a kind.
