Lazulite is a rare Phosphate mineral that comes from a hand full of localities in the world. Facet grade material comes from Canada (Yukon), Brazil and Pakistan. This stone is from Pakistan, which produces some of the largest facet grade material. The stone demonstrates a strong Pleochroism of dark blue one direction and yellow from another. The stone was cut so that the 2 colors mix and flashes of green appear. The colors transition nicely when the stone is moved in hand. The clarity of this stone is quite good, though the stone is a bit dark, as the Pakistan material tends to be. The majority of faceted Lazulite gemstones are under 1 ct, and this stone is a remarkable 1.34 cts! This is an excellent collector’s gemstone for its quality, rarity and size. This stone was faceted by Brett Kosnar of Kosnar Gem Co., during January 2017. Enjoy!
